It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marlon Jenkins, on September 25, 2020. Marlon was born in Charlotte on January 12, 1974 and spent most of his growing up years and adult life in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was in Florida, that Marlon met and married his soulmate, Nicole; and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter Rachel Danielle. In recent years, Marlon and his family moved back to Charlotte, NC to be closer to his mom and the extended family he loved so dearly. Marlon and Nicole just celebrated their seventeenth wedding anniversary.

Marlon was a certified financial investor. He spent many years of his career working in commercial banking in Florida. Upon moving home to NC, he fulfilled the role of Vice President of Easthaven Development Corporation, for the family business in Charlotte, NC. Marlon enjoyed his work, but most importantly he enjoyed the people he worked with.

Marlon’s heart and devotion were to Nicole and Rachel, his two greatest treasures on this earth. He loved cooking dinner each night for his girls and he loved being outside in their back yard, watching Rachel play and winding down after a hard day’s work. Growing up on the water, Marlon always looked forward to planning fishing trips with Jesse and Russell. These were cherished times out on the sea with his closest friends.

Everyone who knows Marlon, loves Marlon. He was a devoted husband, an amazing father, a dedicated son, a dependable friend, and a driven man with a passion for life and providing for all of those he loved. Marlon’s legacy leaves a solid footprint in the hearts of all those he knew and loved.

Marlon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Davis Eugene Allen and Rachel Black Allen. He is survived by his wife, Nicole Meola Jenkins; daughter, Rachel Danielle Jenkins; mother, Becky Jenkins; mother-in-law, Judy L’Heureux; brother, Todd Meola; sister, Danielle Meola; as well as other extended family and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 1, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 7841 Idlewild Road in Charlotte. Visitation will be held before the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to a trust fund set up in his honor for his daughter, Rachel Jenkins. Contributions may be mailed to Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, c/o Marlon L. Jenkins Charitable Trust, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.

We thought of Marlon as more than just a nephew but more like a son.
Our memories go back to his childhood and some of his mischievous acts like the time he started a fire behind the den recliner, or the time he removed the crystal pendants from the chandelier and buried the “treasures “ in the yard, and many others.
We only saw Marlon once or twice a year during his adolescence years while he lived in Florida.
But once he and family moved to Charlotte a few short years ago we were excited about being able to spend more time with him. While this time was way too short, these last few years will be cherished forever.

My favorite memory of Marlon is the way he said Rachel's name. You could tell by their interactions that she was precious to him and that he treasured her. I only knew him for a little while but he was always so very kind to me. I will miss his gentle smile and his chuckle at Rachel's shenanigans. I will help her to remember the days Daddy took her for milkshakes and that he was so proud of his sweet girl. My heart is full of sorrow for Nicole, Rachel and his family because I know his loving presence will be so sorely missed. I pray a peace that passes all understanding to comfort and strengthen you now and always.

Nikki and Rachel,
LOVING thinking back to the memory of us visiting you guys in St. Pete and Marlon literally making us a 4 course seafood feast. God that was a fun, delicious night. Right up his alley. We love you so much and hope the strength of your family and friends is a reminder of the strength that surrounds you and will hold you forever. ❤️
Love,
Drue, Hannah and Jack Wagner
