Martha Howard Harper

Born October 17, 1924, Martha was the daughter of the late Joe Ellis Howard and Jewel Marchman Howard. She was married to the late John Talmadge Harper of Zebulon, NC.

Mrs. Harper was a Registered Dietician on the staff of the University of Oklahoma Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK, Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She attended the University of Alabama and received her BS degree from Georgia Women’s College in Nutritional Management and Dietetics and interned in Dietetics at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center. Mrs. Harper was a fifty-year member of the American Dietetic Association. She was also a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church. Mrs. Harper enjoyed gardening, swimming and music.

She is survived by her son, Richard David Harper of Charlotte; her grandson, Kenneth Jason Stewart of Kannapolis; and her great grandson, Tyler Stewart of Rockwell.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Hilderbrand; and a son, John Ellis Harper.
