She was born August 21, 1939, in Farmersburg, Indiana to Christopher Watson, Sr. and Georgia Marsh Watson. Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her adoring family, daughters Kelly Vaillancourt and Polly Mondanaro, son-in-law, Philip Mondanaro; step-son Martin Mitzkat and his wife Lorenz of Cliousclat, France, step-daughter Barbara Shepherd-Steadman and her husband Michael Steadman of Mirandol Bourgnounac, France, grandchildren Rachel Vaillancourt and Joshua Vaillancourt. Also left to mourn her passing are her two brothers, William Watson and wife, Nancy, of Phoenix, AZ and Richard Watson and his wife, Willie, of Terre Haute, IN; her four sisters, Mary Alice Mulvihill, Sharron Jeffries and her husband, William, both of Terre Haute, IN, Sue Case of Hymera, IN; and numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard A. “Gerry” Mitzkat, and brothers Christopher Watson, Ben Watson and Bob Watson.
Martha was as an Executive Secretary and enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally for both business and pleasure. She loved being a part of the community, meeting up with friends and social groups, and volunteering with community outreach programs.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, with a reception to follow.
