Marvin Maurice Willis

Greensboro, NC-Marvin Maurice Willis, 68, of Charlotte, died Thursday afternoon at Kindred Hospital in Greennsboro, NC following a brief illness.

He was born at Camp Lejune, Jacksonville, NC on March 31, 1945, a son of the late Wilbur and Rose Gay Willis and was raised by his grandmother, Virginia Willis.

A veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from Worth Keeter Inc, where he was employed as a fabricator.

Survivors include his wife, Martha McMillian Willis, whom he married July 12, 1972, two sons, Robert Teague and wife, Summer and Marvin Willis Jr. and wife Crystal all of Charlotte, NC.

Additional survivors include four granddaughters, Spirit, Sky, Madison and Hailee; a nephew, Tony Upchurch, a neice, Sheeri Wiggins and his special companion, Barney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sheena Wiggins.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte with Rev. Hugh Foy officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
