Marvin “Buddy” Woodall, Jr. passed away peacefully June 13, 2021. Born in 1943 to Marvin and Clyde Woodall, Buddy was originally from eastern North Carolina. After graduating from West Edgecombe High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. In September 1966, Buddy married his sweetheart, Etta Powell. Over the years, his career paths moved the loving couple to various locations which included NC, Virginia, Maryland, Kansas, Florida, New Jersey, and their final move to Charlotte, NC.
Those blessed to know Buddy will remember his impeccable character, kindness, and good humor. Buddy’s joys and musical talents included time with his family; singing with his church choir and the Gold Standard Chorus; and many years of sharing his gift of tickling those piano ivories. Return trips to Rocky Mount always included countless hours of fun card games with family and friends. Well lived, well sung, well played Buddy… as you shall be well remembered.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 55 years, Etta; son John Woodall (Shannon) of Fort Mill, SC; daughter Linda Woodall (Garron) of Charlotte; grandchildren Allie, Aiden, Michael, and Jamie Woodall; brother, Jim Woodall (Brenda) of Rocky Mount; and a host of family members and friends.
We are thankful for the loving support provided by many caregivers from the medical and hospice communities.
