Mary Clare

Mrs. Clare, 84, of Charlotte passed away Friday, February 25, 2011. She was born in Burt, NY on December 30, 1926 to the late James and Velma Hickey.

In 1965 she moved to Charlotte where she joined Myers Park Baptist Church and became a member of the Thursday Morning prayer group. She was a also a member of the Sedgefield Garden Club, a charter member of Friendship Force of Charlotte and also a volunteer with Friendship Trays. She was an avid gardener and traveler.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Clare and her brother Whalen Hickey.

Mary is survived by her son James H. Clare and his wife Debra A. of Cary, NC; and her daughter Jane C. Clare and her husband David L. Spence of Beaufort, NC.

The family would like to thank close friends, church family, neighbors and caregivers.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Myers Park Baptist Church. Family will receive friends following the service.
