Mary L. "Kitty" Conner, 99, of Indian Trail, North Carolina, passed away on April 14, 2026. Born on August 17, 1926, in Hempstead, Texas, Mary lived a long life marked by steadfast faith, quiet strength, and a generosity that reached far beyond her own home. She was deeply beloved and cherished, and her presence will be missed more than words can hold.
Raised among 12 siblings, Mary learned early the value of perseverance, responsibility, and looking out for others. During World War II, she served as a telegraph operator—work that required focus, diligence, and calm resolve. Those same steady qualities remained with her throughout her life, shaping the way she met each season with resilience and wisdom.
Mary was a hard-working woman who brought care and excellence to all she did. She served as Manager of the Junior Department at Sears, a role that reflected her reliability, strong work ethic, and the respect she earned through consistent dedication. Whether in her work or in her everyday life, Mary carried herself with a selfless spirit and a kind heart, offering help in ways both practical and quietly profound.
Mary was the mother of Bobby Maynor (Sara), Beverly Aldridge (Doug), Theresa Thomas (Benny), and Gail Maynor. In 1966, she married Walter Conner, and through that marriage she gained stepchildren Steve & Cathy. Mary was widowed in 1987. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom was touched by her steady love, thoughtful guidance, and faithful presence.
In her personal life, Mary found joy in gardening, reading, and working a good crossword. She also devoted herself to raising grandchildren, giving of her time and heart with the same dependable devotion that defined her in every role she held.
Mary’s faith was not only something she held, but something she lived. She volunteered through her church and gave of herself to the elderly and to those less fortunate, extending compassion with a generosity that asked for nothing in return. Her life reflected a rare blend of strength and tenderness—bold and independent, yet always grounded in kindness.
Mary will be remembered for the steadfast way she loved, the wisdom she shared, and the quiet, enduring strength with which she served others. Her legacy is one of faithfulness, generosity, and a life well lived.
