Mary Crook Jordan

December 10, 1927April 24, 2021

Mary Crook Jordan (93) passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Born to the late James and Dollie Crook on December 10, 1927 in Mecklenburg County, Mary graduated from Harding High School. She went on to marry John Jordan and they soon became parents to Ken and Teresa. She was a proud charter member of The Vine United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

Mary dearly loved God first, her church and family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attended their activities whenever possible. She loved cooking big family meals with John, traveling and square dancing. Mary also loved shopping and eating out.

A favorite tradition was baking Christmas cookies and sharing all her sweet goodies with family and neighbors.

Simply put, Mary loved life and all it had to offer. She had such a kind heart and treasured the friendships she made along the way. Mary always told her family that ‘she loved them’ and ‘to be careful’. She was so very proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories.

Her beloved parents, adoring husband John and her loving brother Reid Crook, precede Mary in death. Left to cherish her memory are her children Ken (Elizabeth) of Winston-Salem and Teresa (Doug) Morgan of Charlotte; granddaughters Heather Jordan, Emily Jordan and Kristen (Clint) Riddle along with her three precious grandsons.

A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1pm at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Mary’s caregivers Beverly Reasor, Charlene Stevens and Jeanette Mezuma for all the love and devotion they extended to Mary. Their affection will always be remembered and appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Vine United Methodist Church ( or the Alzheimer’s Association (

We hit the jackpot when we moved in beside John and Mary. You couldn't ask for better neighbors. We already miss Mary. We loved both of them and we have a big hole in our hearts.

Teresa, Ken and Family,

May God be with you at this time, as you remember all the good times that you all had together!
It was my pleasure to take care of Ms Mary! Before the Covid virus, we would go to get her hair done on Fridays and then go to Wendy's or Chick fil A for lunch (her 2 favorite places)!

Mary and John were a wonderful couple and shared their love for God and all the people they knew. They were members of the same Sunday School class that my parents were in. At least every two weeks they would meet at the Cracker Barrell for breakfast. They always traveled with our church group and what fun we all had. I organized at least 20 week long trips with Christian Tours and they were always ready to go. That many weeks together you learn a lot about each other. I got to know and love them just like family. Always the same the way both of them greeted their friends with love and kindness. Mary in her sweet gentle way and John in a teasing way. Love both of them. Now Mary is with many people that went before her and is holding Jesus hand.
