August 28, 1982March 26, 2018

Kathleen, 35, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 at her home. She was in the company of her two loving children, Adam and Grace.

Born on August 28, 1982, she was the daughter of Jim Ferrell and his wife, Martha Ferrell and sister to her older brother, Jason Ferrell. She attended Charlotte Catholic High School and continued on to Central Piedmont Community College. Kathleen became a manager in her profession at the age of twenty one and lived a life of offering service to her community.

Kathleen was a passionate woman and nothing was more important to her than her children. She was a great mother and worked very hard to be involved with them in every way. She took great pride in helping them reach their goals and rising to their challenges. Kathleen was a loving wife and one of the kindest people that would do anything for anyone that was in her ability.

She is survived by her husband, Chris Santiago; her two children, Adam Ryan Santiago and Gracelyn Lee Santiago. Kathleen experienced love from all the members of her family. She returned that love with each caring moment she shared with them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday, April 4, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the mass. Burial will follow the mass at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

I was just getting to know Kat and I could tell right away she was a kind soul. I was truly happy when we were scheduled to work the same shift because I loved talking with her... I am praying for her family to find peace in this difficult time. I pray they find solace in the wonderful memories they have shared.

Safely Home

I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.

Did you wonder how I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh, but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And he came himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve sosorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth' shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains,
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
