Mary Jean Surber

She was the daughter of the late Eugene W. and Mary Willet McClain, and wife of the late Carl Clifford Surber of Kings Mtn, NC.

Jean attended school in Gaston County and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Mt. Holly High School. Before an early retirement to care for her husband, she worked as a supervisor with Bell South for more than 31 years.

She was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church and very well loved and adored as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ms. Kevin Rule, son, Donald Surber and wife Jennie who was her devoted caregiver and Sandra Surber Moss. Grandchildren, Tyson Rule, Kristopher Surber, McClain Surber, Nicole Formeck who also was a caregiver and her husband Robert, Chad Moss and Scott Moss. Also preceding her in death was her brother, William “Bill” McClain.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, July 10, 2015 in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West with Pastor Jim Humphries officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
