
Mrs. Vlahoplus was born Oct. 28, 1932, in St. Louis, the daughter of George and Fannie Vassely, the youngest of four sisters. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters.
Mrs. Vlahoplus is survived by Christopher Vlahoplus, also of St. Louis, her husband of 66 years, and children Alexis Maloney (David) of Charlotte, NC; John Vlahoplus (Uma) of New York City; Christopher Vlahoplus Jr. (Mary Perrin) of Raleigh, NC; and Diane McSwain (Hank) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Whitney Maloney, Phoebe Vlahoplus, and Christopher Perrin, Megan and Sam Vlahoplus.
Mrs. Vlahoplus was born and raised in the Greek Orthodox faith. She attended the University of Missouri and Fontbonne College. Mrs. Vlahoplus is an initiate of Delta Gamma Fraternity.
The Founders Club at the Barclay at South Park lists Mr. and Mrs. Vlahoplus as members, and Mrs. Vlahoplus enjoyed her many friends and activities at the Barclay.
While growing up in St. Louis, Mrs. Vlahoplus was a nationally ranked junior tennis player who participated in many national tournaments, qualified for the US Open tournament and was a member of the Wightman Cup team. She was fond of playing and competing in tennis and golf. An avid athlete, she continued to earn trophies and awards in both sports throughout her life. She also enjoyed playing bridge regularly with friends.
