Mattie W. Hamrick

Mrs. Hamrick was born May 13, 1919 in Gaston County, NC to the late Robert and Miriam Guerin.

Mrs. Hamrick faithfully served her church, Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, for over sixty years. She belonged to other church organizations in Belmont, NC and the Paw Creek area.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Hamrick worked as a beautician and florist. She was a talented cook and seamstress and had many hobbies including crafting and painting. Her joy in life was to share her handiwork with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace C. Hamrick and great grandson, Asher Finley.

Surviving Mrs. Hamrick is son, Gary Hamrick (Patricia) of Colorado Springs, CO and daughters, Bennie Crook of Jacksonville, FL, Beverly Finley of Cornelius, NC, Donna Brewer of Charlotte, NC and Chickie Miller (Jim) of Fort Mill, SC. Mrs. Hamrick also leaves behind her loving grandchildren Bari Crook (Jo Ann), Chris Crook (Wendie), Stephanie Gould (Rich), Brien Hamrick (Amy), Jennifer Young, Brent Hamrick (Tyra), Bradley Hamrick (Carlee), Blaine Hamrick, Shawn Finley (Leah), Kelly Finley (Kevin Krauz), Ellen Cowell (Bob), Jay Miller (Crystal), and Becky Miller. Mrs. Hamrick’s family includes 38 Great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

The family would like to thank the staff and Hospice Care of the 2-West Wing of CMC-Pineville Hospital. We will be forever grateful to Mrs. Hamrick’s caregiver, Miss Brittany Byrd of Rock Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 York Road, Charlotte, NC with the Rev. Dr. Robert Jack Officiating.
