Maude Louise Wooten

Born on January 10, 1922 in Linville, NC , Maude lived through more than a century of history, witnessing generations come and go while leaving a lasting legacy of love, faith, kindness, and resilience. Her life was a beautiful testament to the strength of family, the value of hard work, and the joy found in caring for others.

Above all else, Maude treasured her family. She was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, a beloved great-grandmother, and a proud great-great-grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from watching her family grow, celebrating milestones together, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying her warm presence, those who knew her experienced a love that was constant and unconditional.

Maude had a servant’s heart and a deep, unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life. As a devoted member of Plaza Baptist Church for many years, she found great joy in serving others. She faithfully volunteered with the HomeBound ministry, often spending entire days visiting shut-ins, offering companionship, encouragement, and the love of Christ to those who were unable to leave their homes. She treasured the timeless message of gospel hymns and enjoyed listening to pastors from the local area as she continued to grow in her faith. Maude’s gentle spirit was reflected even in the simple things she loved, including cooking, the color pink, watching butterflies on the butterfly bush, and beautiful pink roses, which all brought her joy. Her life was a beautiful example of compassion, faithfulness, and selfless love, and the impact she made on those around her will be cherished for generations.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Gurney Wooten and grandson Chris Morris. She is survived by her daughters Martha Morris & Phyllis Tittl (Joseph Tittl), her grandchildren Ginger Oswald (Carey Oswald), Jayson Morris (Kevin Grant), Angie Cochran & Frank Neal, her great grandchildren Lauren Watts (Jonathan Watts), Rachel Heslin (Justin Heslin), Julia Bray, Grayson Cochran, Zoey & Ava Neal, and her great-great grandchildren Luke & Jane Watts, & Madison Heslin along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Though her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in the gift of her extraordinary life and the countless ways she blessed those around her. Her legacy will continue through the generations she nurtured, the values she instilled, and the love she so freely gave.

A celebration of Maude’s life will be held on Friday, July 24 at McEwen/Sharon Memorial Park (5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte NC 28212), with visitation from 10:00AM-11:00AM followed by service at 11:00AM. Graveside will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Carolina Caring Foundation (3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658), the ones who so graciously cared for Maude in her final days.

The family finds comfort knowing that Maude has entered into the presence of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and at peace in her eternal home.
