I met Mike in College at App State and we became really good friends.  Mike was a fun loving guy and LOVED music.  I think that was the first thing I learned about him in college. He used to walk around campus with a big boom box when he was not practicing for track. We lost contact after college but reconnected in 2010. We continued to stay in contact until he had the surgery in January 2014.  He had sent me a message with contact information weeks before the surgery. By the time I found it again, it was too late. I can hear him quoting to me a verse from  one  of his favorite songs   "It will be how it's gonna be" says it all.  I miss our conversations dearly. Continued prayers of comfort  for you his loving family. He loved you all so much.

My condolences to the family. I met/worked with Mike when he was a Major and on a tour with the Military. We clicked immediately. I was going through some changes in my life. Our conversations ranged from family, careers to being happy. He often told me don't let anyone make you unhappy in life, accept new challenges and it's okay to fail, at least you tried. Just get back up and try again. He told me to spread my wings and fly because life is too short to wonder what if. It is because of Mike that I applied and accepted a job in Italy. We lost contact a couple of years ago, but I wish I could have told him how much our talks meant. I will never forget you Mike and I am thankful for the season God sent you into my Life. Michael was a smooth and jovial man. He would always greet me with a hug followed by a joke. I will forever remember him the way that I last saw him a few Thanksgivings ago, laughing and talking with family, especially my brother Sean. We know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. While we know tomorrow will not be the easiest, we find peace knowing he is healed and we shall see him again.

Revered for bringing 21st Century global learning from Afghanistan to a class in Kannapolis, NC. Fondly refered to by the children as Major Boger and later as "Lieutenant Colonel Major Boger".  Such overwhelming responsibilities abroad and still made time to frequently impart knowledge and attention to his "buddies"at Woodrow Wilson Elementary.  My condolences to the family. On the days that I visited w/Mike and Auntie, it was my mission to talk to Mike, and to get a laugh out of him. I am so happy that the pain and suffering is over. Auntie, I cannot imagine the pain that you are feeling at this time. You dedicated your life in order to take care of Mike, and I know that he went peacefully knowing that his mom truly loved him. Mike will truly be missed.

I have known the Boger family for but a few years yet their desire to care for Mike was honorable and one of the more selfless acts I have experienced in my adult life.   I met Mike on the campus of App State in the fall of 1979. We were both freshmen living in the same dorm. I will never forget the study sessions ,fun times and many laughs we shared.  My sincere sympathy to the Boger family.

May God bring you each Peace and Understanding as you journey through this time of loss. And for Mrs Boger, you proved your love to Michael time and time again, day after day. Know our discussions reflected on that Mother's love you exemplified.

I just don't know where to begin on how much fun we had when we was kids on Melrose drive. I'm glad I got to know him from when we were kids. HE WILL BE MISSED.... RIH.

Michael was truly a great person and a great cousin.  He served in country without hesitation. I will never forget our talks and laughs.  To be absent in this earthly body is to be in the presence of God.
