Michael Owen Hamlett

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debbie Hamlett, his children, Matthew Hamlett (Erin Elizabeth), Kim Deaton (Adam), and Tyler Hamlett. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Cooper Deaton, Yates Hamlett, and Elsie-Gray Hamlett and his brother, Richard Hamlett.

Mike was born in Danville, Virginia to the late Jimmy and Delores Hamlett and was the brother of the late Tommy Hamlett. He graduated from Garinger High School and attended Duke University. He worked for many years at Law Engineering where he was the VP of Charlotte Lab.

Mike enjoyed activities such as camping, wood working, collecting things, and he had an interest in animals. He especially loved watching his grandchildren grow up. He also was fond of the times he spent at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mike was devout to the Lord; before his passing, he had been excited about attending service at the Greater Life church near his and his wife’s home.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
