OBITUARY
Mildred S. Austin
Born December 14, 1922
Mildred, 88, of Charlotte passed away peacefully June 29, 2011. Mildred, the eldest daughter of the late Harry H. and Ferrie T. Spurrier was born on December 14, 1922. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James F. Austin, brothers, Tommy Spurrier and Bobby Spurrier, sister, Gladys Bowers, grandson, Ricky Henderson, and granddaughter, Dana Maynor. She is survived by her son, James F. Austin of Atlanta, Ga., daughters, Carolyn Henderson and husband, Richard, Shirley Tench and husband, Don, Lisa Mace and husband, Charles (Hank) of Charlotte and 7 grand and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a long standing member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a member of numerous community groups. Mildred was known for her honesty, integrity and independence and was loved by many. She retired from BASF Corporation and enjoyed her many years after retirement. A service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Reverend Billy Towery officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 10:00-11:00a.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Bearing the casket will be Kevin Avant, Mike Griffin, Russell Austin, Gary Cooke, Grady Hulon and Christopher Austin. The family would like to extend special thanks to all of her Health Care Providers. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Rd., Charlotte, NC, 282l6. The family will be at Mildred's home.

I worked with Mildred for many years at BASF and she was such a good influence in my life. I like to think that she helped raise me since I was far from home. I pray that her family find peace and comfort knowing that she is with the Lord.

My Aunt Mildred will be truly missed. I believe she was the oldest sibling and lived a wonderful life she loved her family and kept them close to her heart. I am so sorry for your loss.
