The McDaniel family will greet friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, the 29th of March, 2025 in the Chapel of McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Delia Manette Howard and her husband, William Howard; a sister, Patricia Harman and her husband, Mike Harman; brother-in-law, Preston F. McDaniel and his wife, Susan and a sister-in-law, Carol McDaniel along with nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, JF McDaniel, Jr.; her siblings: Raymond Ellis Lewis, Howard Love Lewis, Carolyn Fay Lewis Crane, Dorothy Lewis, and Jackie Elaine Lewis.
Mildred worked for 30 years with A&P in Charlotte, NC, before her retirement. She was baptized and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Charlotte. She loved to go to her Momma’s house and sit out on the front porch and talk to all the family and friends who gathered. She would stay until the last of them left, still just laughing and talking. A fantastic cook, where she enjoyed cooking all the holiday meals. Which were delicious!
She loved to go to Elvis’ tribute shows with her friends and daughter. An honest person who always told the truth, Mildred had lots of friends whom she cared deeply for as well as her family. A very strong and independent person, she was up on a ladder painting the gable of her house at 68 years old! Mildred loved to travel, so much that once her Doctor commented, "What are you, a permanent vacationer!".
She had a lot of funny things she would say unintentionally; so many in fact, we called them Mildredisms.
In summary, Mildred McDaniel was a loving, caring, strong, honest lady who blessed all of us with her life. We are all enriched so much from her.
