Mrs. Reed, 87, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Friday evening, November 2, 2012 at Carrington Place.

Mrs. Reed was born November 21, 1924 in Cleveland County, North Carolina, one of four children, to the late Charles and June Beam. She had worked with Big Ways Radio Station and retired from the The Leader weekly paper in Charlotte. Mrs. Reed had been a longtime faithful member of Sardis Presbyterian Church.

The Reed family will gather to greet friends 2:00 PM, Monday, November 5, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 3:00 PM Monday in the Chapel with The Reverend Alice Johnson, Sardis Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert “Bob” Reed of Charlotte, NC; son, Robert “Rusty” Reed of Charlotte, NC and a daughter, Wendy Reed Wooten and husband, Chuck of East Bend, NC; two granddaughters: Rachel and Samantha Wooten. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her three brothers: Carl, Boyd and Hoyle Beam.

The Reed family expresses their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Carrington Place for the love and care shown to Mrs. Reed.
