She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She carried all these titles well, but most of all she was a friend to each one of us and will carry a special place in our hearts forever. Other than the love she had for her family, she loved working in her beautiful flower gardens which gave her much comfort.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Wilson Helms and Rosa Herron Helms; and a sister, Mary Frances Duchesney.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Jerry Lindsay Cox; daughters, Tammy (Bob) Freeman, Alesa (Greg) Williams, Angie Bennett; sister, Diana McMillian and brother, Van (BJ) Helms; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Northlake Memorial Gardens, 11001 Alexanderana Rd., Huntersville, NC 28708.
McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, Charlotte, is in charge of arrangements.
