Neelie Reid Steele Nance

Neelie Reid Steele Nance, born February 21, 1917, passed away Saturday April 6, 2013. Neelie lived a full and wonderful life surrounded by her loving family. Neelie was the daughter of the late Reece Clark and Martha Elizabeth Steele, was the eldest of eight siblings. She was married to guitarist Fred C. Nance of Charlotte, and together they shared a life of music, concerts and travel. She raised three daughters Martha Smith, of blessed memory, Delores Grimm, and Nina Haas. Strong and fun, she believed in laughter and a sassy attitude which kept her full of life for 96 years. She is survived by her sister Josephine Williams and adoring Grandchildren Fred Smith, Sheri Smith Bradford, Rabbi Laila Haas, Alexi Haas, and Adam Haas; great grandchildren Jessica, Sarah, Gabrielle Shackleford and great great granddaughter Ashayah Shackleford and grandsons Grayson and Devin Smith. We will always remember her and keep her close to our hearts. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
