Neil Clifford Shearer, born on February 5, 1954, in Buffalo, New York, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 71. A resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, Neil was a charismatic, honorable, and supportive individual whose presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Neil was a graduate of Kenmore West Senior High School. His dedication to his country was exemplified through his service as a Vietnam veteran in the United States Air Force. He was admired for his meticulous attention to detail and his award-winning humor, qualities that left an indelible mark on those around him.
Neil's personal interests included a love for music and spending time at the beach, pursuits that brought him great joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Rivers, and his grandchildren, Kaiden Rivers and Cameron Rivers. Neil is also survived by his siblings, Sharel Webber and Alan Shearer. He was predeceased by his father, Edward George Shearer, and his mother, Margaret Gloria Geisel Shearer.
A graveside service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, located at 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, on February 6, 2026, at 2:30 pm. Neil will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery.
