Nettie Maxine Holloway-Wood, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10th 2013 at Presbyterian Matthews Hospital, Matthews, North Carolina. She was born in Monroe, La. January 15, 1915, and was preceded in death by her late husband, Walter Allen Wood.
She lived in Charlotte for the past 48 years and worked for several legal firms in Charlotte and also for Fidelity Insurance.
She loved feeding birds and her passion was quilting, sewing, crocheting and knitting. Her pride was making baby sweaters, hats and booties. She also enjoyed playing the organ.
Surviving is her younger sister, Betty Holloway-Stevens, also preceded in death by her older sister Lucille Holloway-Irwin. Also surviving are her two children, John W. Wood and wife, Ann Wood of Harrisburg, Pa, and Sharon E. Ames and husband Alan Ames of Bellefontaine, Oh. She had 5 grandchildren, Denise, Robert, Michael, Nathan and Suzanne, and 5 great grandchildren, Heather, Cody, Christopher, Tilia and Violet.
A private graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
