Nita "Peachie" Whitmire Rushing

Nita “Peachie” Whitmire Rushing, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend that always wanted the best for everyone. She never turned anyone away that needed help. She was previously employed by the City of Charlotte as an Administrative Officer. She was on the Peppertree Ocean Club Board of Directors for over twenty years and served many years as the President. She produced a Christian television program for her church for over twenty years and served as the Administrative Assistant to several Pastors. She also enjoyed actively volunteering at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Jimmie T. Rushing in 2007; her parents, William Allen Whitmire (1974) and mother, Mary Gladys Whitmire (1984); by her brothers Clarence, Lloyd, Wayne, Curt and Charles Whitmire.

She is survived by her children, Jimmie Rushing, Jr.; Michelle R. Thomas (Bobby) of Monroe, NC; and Lori Howard Durham of Rock Hill, SC. She had six grandchildren, Jessica and Baylie Rushing, April and Amanda Thomas, Brittany and Brooke Howard and one great-grandchild, Mason Scott Roberts. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Smith (Pete) of Charlotte and a brother, Wilton (Vivian) of Harrisburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at The LifeBuilders Church of God; 730 Oakdale Road in Charlotte on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Rushing will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the LifeBuilders Church of God; 730 Oakdale Road in Charlotte with the Revs. Sam Wood, Jerry Tow and Don Whichard officiating. The committal will follow the service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery; 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC.

In lieu of customary arrangements, the family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Nita to the LifeBuilders Church of God, 730 Oakdale Road in Charlotte, NC 28216
