

Odell Vernon Sprinkle born 11-29-1923 in Winston Salem, NC, oldest boy of nine children. Senior class president at Gray High. A Marine Sargent in New Caledonia (south Pacific ) as an aircraft mechanic. He had been married to Mabel Pegram for 67 years when she passed in 2012. Graduated NC State University in Mechanical Engineering with accreditation in civil, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and environmental control engineering. He worked as a professional engineer for Charles T Main and later JA Jones on projects from Bolton Elementary to Celanese and McGuire Nuclear Power Plant. Founder of the Church of Christ on North Sharon Amity Rd. His favorite times were vacations "because I get to spend all my time with my family."
We celebrate the life of an honorable and generous man who was a loving father and husband. Odell enjoyed talking to people and was always helping someone. He hardly ever passed by someone on the road with car trouble. He was a cheerful and optimistic soul who could throw out a quip or two until the end.
He is survived by his three children Ron Sprinkle of Sacramento, CA, Mark Sprinkle of Charlotte, NC, and Susie Sprinkle Katz of Charlotte, NC, two sisters, Viola Shaw and Harriet Yokeley, three brothers Glynn Sprinkle, Dexine Sprinkle, Buck Sprinkle, grandchildren Benjamin Sprinkle of Rocklin, CA, Kent Sprinkle of San Diego, CA and Ashley Katz of Charlotte, NC, and great grandchildren Hannah, Ella, Claire, and Cora.
Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral and Cremation Services. Flowers may be sent to Wilson's or charitable donations to the Church of Christ or a local food bank. Family visitation on Friday, June 5th, 7pm-9pm at Wilson Funeral Home on 5301 Albemarle Rd.
