Onekeo Sorlaesith, 86, of Charlotte, passed away October 19, 2026. Born October 1, 1940 in Laos, he was the son of the late Mong Silapheth and Thongsai Sorlaesith. He was the husband of the late Sengla Sorlaesith.
In 1962, he married Sengla and they had 6 children, four sons and two daughters. The family left Laos and moved to Thailand’s refugee camp during the Vietnam War, then came to the United States in 1980 settling in Illinois for one year before relocating to Iowa for fifteen years. They decided to relocate to Charlotte, NC in 1996.
He is survived by his three sons, Daopheth, Daothiam and Daovanh; two daughters, Daovone and Daoloy; and nine grandchildren: Nick, Samantha, Julian, Dallas, Daytona, Railey, Devin, Zachary and Andrey.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funerals and Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208, on October 23, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
