Opal Parker Daugherty

Opal Parker Daugherty of Charlotte died June 30, 2013 in her sleep. She was born in Onslow County, N. C. June 26, 1924 to Molly Brown Parker and William Parker. After moving to Charlotte with her husband, Vance Daugherty and three children, she worked for Allstate Insurance Company. In 1968 Vance was transferred to Wilmington , then Raleigh before they returned to Charlotte in 1981.She was able to spend many years enjoying her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vance C. Daugherty, son Duane Willis Daugherty, her parents and seven sisters. She is survived by her children, Ivan Vance (Vicki) Daugherty, and Sherry Daugherty (Mike) Payne, her grandchildren, Dayna (Bill) Lineberger, Donivan (Brandy) Daugherty, Lori (Drew) Kerr and Candace (Eric) Fox and great-granddaughter, Emily Lineberger. The last eleven years of her life she was lovingly cared for by Dianora Shealy whose family brought much joy to her. She now rests peacefully with her heavenly father. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00PM Wednesday, July 3rd in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Dr. Gerald Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Offer condolences through www.forestlawnwest.com.
