

Opal Landon Raymer, age 92, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Regency of Charlotte. Mrs. Raymer was born February 4, 1923 in Ashland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Theron and Mary Ziegler Landon.
Opal graduated from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH with a degree in Nursing. Opal also met the love of her life, Dr. James B. Raymer, Sr. while attending college at Case Western. She served in the United States Army as a nurse at Wakeman General Hospital in Camp Atterbury, Indiana. Opal was a Second Lieutenant, proud to be an active WAC, serving in one of the largest convalescent hospitals in the United States during the 1940’s. Opal was an avid Ohio State fan for life. She enjoyed reading, gardening and being with her beloved grandchildren.
Mrs. Raymer is survived by her son, James B. Raymer, Jr. and wife Marie and her grandchildren, James B. Raymer, III and David Michael Raymer. She was predeceased by her beloved Husband, Dr. James B. Raymer; her son, Robert Raymer; and sister, Verda Landon Baridon.
A graveside service for Mrs. Raymer will be held at 11:00 am, Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. A reception will follow in the afternoon starting at 2:00 pm, located in the Regency of Charlotte, 9210 Willow Ridge Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
