You are my grandfather and I always admired what you did with your life. We sat many nights out in your back yard or after dinner and you would tell me about your life. To honor you we named our 6th Ovian Behren Wasielewski. He was born 8/14/2025. You are missed. Martin

Von my old friend I only learned of your passing today and my heart is indeed saddened. I will always remember our time together  as brothers of the badge and our friendship of more than 50 years. Rest in peace my brother and may God take you into his kingdom. I will miss you

"I wanted say something on my dad's memory page.  It has been difficult to do because of the great sadness I feel and because there is so much I could say.  No one could have had a better father than I have known for 68 years.  He was a wonderful role model and guided me lovingly in so many ways.

     "I can trace my love for education directly to him.  I remember as a young boy that he took much needed family money to spend several hundred dollars on a complete set of encyclopedias.  We would often read from them together.  

     "I had a school project due in which I had to build a paper mache model of the Hawaiian Islands.  When I told my dad it was due in two days, he went out and bought the materials and started working with me to complete the project.  On the day before it was due, I went to bed at 11:00.  The next morning when I got up my project was beautifully finished and sitting by the door in the living room.  He had stayed up all night to finish it, then left to go to work.  I could not have a greater love and respect for him.  I finished second in the science fair to some since nerd.

     "I can also truthfully say that my dad saved my life.  One day I came home from college and told my dad that I had decided to join the Marines and go off to fight in Viet Nam.  He convincingly told me that this was not a war that I should fight in.  My love and respect for my father caused me to follow his advise.  He was, of course, correct in that advise.

      "I could tell literally hundreds of similar stories of how my wonderful father has influenced my life.  My only wish now is that I could have been a better son.  I love you dad, and I will miss you dearly."

Upon your passing I reflect on the many wonderful memories of your continuous smile, bravery and a man of faith that set a good example for all. I am with joy that you will are reunited with your wife Betty. With deepest sympathy and peace knowing you are with our heavenly father.

Uncle Von… I am so sad to hear the news of your passing.  You were a great man and so good to my children and I…. you were my sons very first babysitter.  You were brave enough to take the kids to a restaurant with a self-service ice cream machine and to teach them to fish in your yard.  They came back to Michigan and told all their friends how their “grandpa” taught them to fish.  It was love.  You'll always be in our hearts and never forgotten.  Jill, Max, Ally and Mary Chapoton

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Von.  You were a cousin by marriage, but a friend by choice.  We go back many years and Von was like a big brother to me; always looking out for me.  He was great company whether we were walking at the mall, going out to lunch, driving from Michigan to Florida, or hanging window blinds while Bettie and I watched.  I remember Von coming over and walking straight to my kitchen and sharpening all my knives.  You will be missed.  May fond memories bring comfort to all.

My Dear Brother Von, my hero, a tower of strength. We spoke often, especially in our later years when travel wasn't as easy. Our conversations were upbeat and packed with memory reviews - once in a while a bit more serious. I frequently told him how proud I was (am) of him from his early life as a USMC Iwo Jima vet; as far as I know the only marine there that earned 2 Silver Stars. My pride extends, covering the way he lived his long life with a strong Christian faith and love of family.
