Pasquale Romano

Fort Mill, SC — The family of Pasquale Romano, 87, formerly of Watertown, CT, announces his peaceful passing on Friday, August 21, 2026, at his home in Sun City Carolina Lakes surrounded by family and friends. He was the beloved husband of the late Concetta (Cenicola) Romano, who passed away on March 7, 2019.

Born on November 9, 1938, in Sassinoro, Italy, Pasquale was the son of the late Antonio and Modestina (Focareta) Romano. The hard life that was post–World War II Italy instilled in him a strong work ethic that lasted his entire life. In May 1955, he and his father came to the United States to work and save money to reunite their family. By 1958, they had purchased a home in Oakville, CT, where his mother, three brothers, and sister joined them.

Pasquale took great pride in his work. After working at Princeton Knitting Mills and Uniroyal, he spent 38 years with P/Kaufmann. When the company relocated in the late 1980s, he again began a new chapter, moving to Charlotte with his family and continuing to work with the company until retiring at age 80.

His love of his Italian heritage showed up in so many ways – from gardening, and making homemade sausage, wine, and sauce, to always ensuring he had coffee or snacks for anyone that visited. He enjoyed Sunday pasta, family holidays, bocce, card games – especially scopa, and always had a joke - or barzelletta - to share. Above all, he cherished his family and worked tirelessly to give them opportunities and a future he could never have imagined as a boy.

He will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Those left to honor his memory include his five children: Antonio Romano and his wife, Lynda, of Watertown; Angela Stansell and her husband, Ben, of Matthews, NC; Gina Santoro and her husband, Jason, of Indian Land, SC; Michael Romano and his wife, Priya, of Charlotte, NC; and Jennifer Lieberman and her husband, Marc, of Waxhaw, NC. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren: Annie, Ella, Joshua, Jackson, Michael, Isabella, Luca, Emma, Mia, and Max.

He also leaves his dear friend, Karen Lockett of Sun City, with whom he shared many cherished memories, including Sun City team bocce championships in 2024 and 2025, as well as many other friends in the community.

He is survived by his sister, Mary DiSisto, and her husband, Bruno, of Watertown; his brother, Rocco Romano, and his wife, Debbie, of Oakville; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and beloved friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Concetta, his parents, and his brothers, Domenic and Mario Romano.

Funeral services for Pasquale will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 1:15 pm with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 828 Old Reid Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. Those attending are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.
