Patricia Louise McDonald Brown, born in Raleigh, NC to Wilbur Levi McDonald and Cleo Underwood McDonald, she had no siblings. Patricia was a 1953 graduate of Central High School followed by higher education at Queens College and Kings Business College, all in Charlotte, NC before embarking on an early career as an Internal Revenue Service computer programmer based in Arlington, VA and Chamblee, GA. In 1965 Patricia resigned from the IRS to wed Joe Evans Brown of Charlotte whom she had met at a "Hire-The-Handicapped" interview at Radio Station WBT in 1959. That union produced sons Lewis Wilbur Brown of Raleigh, NC and Joseph Kevin Brown of the home. In addition to Joe and sons, Patricia is survived by sisters-in-law Jean Eudy of Midland, NC, Jane Greer of Vilas, NC, Margaret Ann Piela of New Milford, CT, cousins Betty Ann Austin of Charlotte and Elaine Kantor of Virginia Beach, VA, and all their respective progeny. Pat, as she was known to all, was a childhood victim of both Polio and Scoliosis against which she fought the good fight for the duration of her life. She epitomized indomitable courage and spirit and will be greatly missed by all whom she loved and was loved by in return. A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences and notes of encouragement may be left at www.McEwenfs.com.
