Patricia R McDaniel

Patricia (Pat) Woodferne McDaniel (nee’ Rumble), age 89, of New London, NC, died peacefully on Oct. 5, 2022. The third child of four, she was born and raised in Weymouth Massachusetts. She surprised her family when she fell in love with an Army soldier, Joseph (Joe) McDaniel from Georgia, who was stationed in the Boston area. They married in 1954 and moved to Atlanta, GA and were married for 56 years until Joe’s death in 2010. Joe and Pat settled in Charlotte in the early 1970’s where they lived until they moved to Badin Shores in 2003.

Pat is survived by her two daughters and their significant others, Susan Leonard and Scott Morgan, and Cheryl Batts and her husband, Vince. Pat was also blessed with three granddaughters and their spouses: Natalie Needham and her husband, Jordan, Nicole Jenkins and her husband Seth, and Valerie Pinnock and her husband Ryan. In addition, she had 4 great-grandchildren, Falynn, Jordan, Landon and Leighton.

As an active member of the Chandler Grove Methodist Church in New London, Pat loved to help out at the various church mission activities and was loved by many of her church family. Pat liked to tease and be teased, was a fantastic cook, enjoyed the ocean, was an avid exerciser, took pride in her Irish heritage and cared genuinely about others. She was known to her family and to others as someone who spoke her mind, was tenacious in her beliefs and loved her family and her Church. While gone from us physically, she has left an indelible memory on her family, her friends and Church family.
