

He was born on April 9, 1965, to Harold and Gloria Grune of Stony Point, N.Y., and attended Don Bosco High School in Ramsey, NJ and Dayton University with a degree in Political Science.
Patrick started his own restaurant business in Jacksonville, Fl. He worked for many years at Bank of America in Charlotte, N.C. and at the Country Club of the Carolinas.
Patrick found his greatest joy in spending time with family. He cherished time with his siblings, especially during the Grune family reunions in Cape May, and treasured moments with his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A lifelong golf enthusiast, Patrick proudly achieved two holes-in-one.
Patrick is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gloria Grune, his father-in-law Abdul Jabar and his niece Amie Sheridan.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife Sandy of 35 years, his daughter Elizabeth (Kayla), his son Sean and fiancé Caroline. His 11 siblings: Katherine Breuninger (Chris), Margaret Rickards (Glen), Anne Krause (Jerry), Maureen Horgan (Kevin), Mary Sheridan (John), Paul (Shelly), Tom, Susie Stritmater (Mike), Mickey (Gina), Laura and Jean Barlage (Ed).
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Hafeezan, and in-laws: Hassan (Zeena), Junie (Jameel), Aleem (Fazie), Shameer (Zee), Shabeer, Debbie (Jack), and Andie (John), and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and later that evening from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, North Carolina 28277.
Burial will follow immediately at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
