Pattie G Cantey

Pattie was born on October 3, 1934 in Wendell, NC to the late Thomas L. and Appie E. Grimes. She graduated from Wendell High School in 1952 and graduated from East Carolina College in 1956. She met her husband of 39 years in Raleigh, NC at a YMCA dance. They were married in Wendell, NC in 1958. She was a faithful member of Fairbluff Bible Chapel for 61 years, where she taught Sunday school and Awana for many years. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an educational honorary organization since 1984. She was an elementary school teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system for 34 years.

Pattie showed kindness toward everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone she met. She never met a stranger and always made time to talk and listen to others. She genuinely loved people and her smile was infectious. She was strong in her faith and loved her family.

Pattie was predeceased by her husband, Jack E. Cantey, and brother, Bob Grimes. She is survived by her son, Ed Cantey, daughter, Carolyn Rimmer (Stuart), grandchildren, Jacqueline Rimmer, Michael Rimmer, and great granddaughter Bailey Grace Martin.
