Paul Francis Juneau, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Marine, community servant and friend to all, passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2026, at the age of 97. Born in Hartford, Conn., on Aug. 30, 1929, Paul attended Hartford High School and the University of Connecticut. In 1972, for a second time, he moved his family to Charlotte, where he remained for the rest of his life.
For 68 years, he was married to the love of his life, Frances Ivonauskas Juneau, who passed away in 2021. Paul and Fran loved each other, spreading their infectious kindness and enthusiasm for life to everyone. After retiring, they enjoyed travelling, seeing the world, and making new friends at the Merrywood community where they lived out their final years.
Paul proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. As a combat veteran, he was among "The Chosin Few," an honor he bore with both pride and humility. He was an active member of the VFW, DAV, and Marine Corps League, serving as Commandant and as a member of the Military Honor Guard, participating in countless funerals throughout the area. Paul also served his community as a grand knight in the Knights of Columbus, council #770, and was elected to the Charlotte City Council in 1984.
Paul began his career as a machinist, then transitioned to sales in various companies. After being named plant manager of Alfol he successfully moved the manufacturing facility from New York to Charlotte, eventually retiring as president of the company.
What mattered most to Paul was his family. He treasured the time he spent with them. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and admired him, and they will carry with them the valuable examples he set. He was loving, kind, humorous and hard-working.
In addition to his wife, preceding Paul in death were his parents, Anthony and Blanche Ouimet Juneau; brothers, Maurice and Anthony Juneau; and sister, Adele Feeney. He is survived by two siblings, Thomas Juneau (Sharon) and Madeleine Paquette (Ken), and his eight children: Diane Godwin (Joe), Christine Gagnon, Susan Juneau, Elaine Palmer (John), David Juneau, Ken Juneau (Alana), Phillip Juneau (Esther) and Fred Juneau (Cindy); 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
