

Born on August 12, 1939, Paul was a proud native Charlottean and the youngest son of James and Ruth Kilgo. He attended Central High School and later earned his bachelors of education degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Throughout his life, Paul was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and ability to bring humor to any situation.
One of three sons, Paul shared a lifelong bond with his brothers, Jimmy and John. Over the years, he held a variety of jobs and approached each chapter of his life with determination and a strong work ethic. Despite facing numerous health challenges, he continually defied expectations, demonstrating remarkable strength and perseverance.
His greatest joy was the family he built and the relationships he nurtured throughout his life.
Paul is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Angie, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters, Mary Beth (Charles) and Sarah (Reed), and his son, Paul Kilgo Jr. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Abigail, Emily, and Jacob Scoggins, and James and Juliana Yancey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him simply as “Uncle PK.”
Paul’s legacy is one of joy, perseverance, generosity, and deep love for those around him. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
