Peggy LaFoy Bailes

Peggy LaFoy Bailes, daughter of Ethel Hager LaFoy and Rufas Benjamin LaFoy was born on August 16, 1934. Her family lived in Pineville, NC. Peggy was a cheerleader in high school and Lewis Bailes, Jr., was captain of the Pineville basketball team.

Peggy married Lewis Bailes, Jr., in 1950, and they were married for 73 years. Peggy and Lewis Jr. resided in Pineville, NC until they built their home in Fort Mill, SC where they raised their three children Sandra, Zack and Tommy.

Left to mourn her loss are sister, Vickie LaFoy Ernsberger; daughter, Sandra Bailes Masterman (Mike) and sons Lewis Z. (Zack) Bailes (Michelle) and Thomas W. Bailes (Torrie); nephews, Sonny, Rodney and Kris Ernsberger; niece, Michelle Ernsberger; grandchildren, Walter Douglas Bailes, Zacharie Bailes (Heather), Tyler Chase Bailes (Kirsten), April Masterman Baker (Jeremy) and Ashley Masterman Sawyer (David); and great-grandchildren, Cody Bailes, Zelyia Bailes, Justin Baker, Alyssa Baker, Maddox Sawyer, Emma Kate Sawyer and Bridger Bailes.

The family will greet friends starting at 11am on Friday, May 1 2026 at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel located at 10500 Park Road in Charlotte. Funeral will be held at noon in the McEwen Chapel with burial immediately following at the Cemetery of the Good Shepherd located at 13611 Zoar Road in Charlotte.
