Peggy Ann Rion

Mrs. Rion, age 81, of Charlotte, passed away May 1, 2013, at CMC Main. She was born on June 14, 1931, in Shelby, NC, daughter of the late Claude Durham and Helen Ruth Wright Camp. She attended Number Three High School and attended CPCC. She owned and operated a snack bar for 43 years at the Board of Education called "Peggy's Place." One of her special achievements was that in 1981 she adopted three children. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Eric Williams. The family will receive friends starting at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212, followed by a chapel service at 3:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Reverend Henry Ward. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Surviving are her husband Duke Rion; sons, Mike Williams and wife Linda of Matthews, Russell Dodson of Gastonia; daughters, Rhonda Buffkin of Charlotte, Cheryl Moss, Diane Miller and husband Scott all of Gastonia; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Doctor Joe H. Camp of Charlotte.
