OBITUARY
Peter Collins Sherman
February 17, 1941 – February 15, 2021
Peter Collins Sherman passed peacefully in his home in Matthews, NC on February 15, 2021. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 17, 1941, son of Paul Francis Sherman and Nina Henry Sherman. He graduated with pride from Valley Forge Military Academy where he was an avid fencer and ham radio operator. Pete went on to get his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pittsburgh. It was during this time that he met his first wife, Zoe Warwick. He raised his family in Pittsburgh and then Charlotte, NC.
Pete had a passion for woodworking, refinishing furniture and working on cars. He became a small plane pilot. He spent many weekends boating with his family on Lake Norman. Later on, he moved onto dry land and became an RV enthusiast. He mastered crab grass eradication and was persistantly challenged by trying to grow grass in the shade. Squirrels were his ultimate nemesis. Pete enjoyed many careers including accounting and computer programing. While studying computers, he met and eventually married the love of his life, Diane May Peppard (deceased). Pete made many friends along the way through multiple book clubs, RV clubs, his years of service volunteering at Charlotte Douglas Airport, and through Friendship Force. It is there he met his amazing and loving partner, Patricia Lahey.
He is survived by his son, Paul (Chris) Sherman; daughter Zoe (Cassie) Sherman (Craig Norville and son Alex); stepson Jeff Peppard (Amy and sons Aiden and Tommy); stepson Jarrett Peppard (DeeDee and children Brennan, Colman, and Sarah). We would also like to acknowledge his brothers, Danny Snyder, Ron Snyder, Bud Snyder, and Dennis Snyder (deceased).
Services will be held graveside at Sharon Memorial Park on February 27 at 2pm. We will be live streaming the service. To receive details on this please email pete@pcsherman.com.
In lieu of flowers to the graveside, consider sending flowers in his name to your local nursing home or donating to the Cancer Society.

I remember PETER as a warm, friendly, smart, and kind person. He easily shared his home, his thoughts,——himself with others. He enjoyed his life and the people in it. It was a pleasure to know him. Rest In Peace Peter.

My condolences and sincere sympathy are extended to Pete’s loved ones. My late husband, Rob. Pickard, worked with Pete for many years at Medfax, and as I lived within walking distance of their Thermal Rd. home, we sometimes socialized with Pete and Diane. He was a great guy and will be much missed.

You're missed, Uncle Pete.
Uncle Pete had a good sense of humor yet also told things like they were, which I appreciated. I enjoyed hearing about his adventures across the country with Aunt Diane. I enjoyed hearing his laugh. He is missed and it is hard to hear of him passing.

Peter was a personable, caring person. You could talk to him and he would wholeheartedly listen. In turn, he was good at relating his feelings to you. In other words, he knew how to connect with people. Plus, if you had anything needing repair, he would generously fix it for you. He was a great handyman. We will miss you, Peter.
Love,
Garry & Mary May
