Dr. Phillip M. Davis

August 30, 1952August 29, 2015

Born August 30, 1952, Bishop Phillip Milton Davis, 62, of Weddington, NC, entered eternal rest at his home on August 29, 2015. Dr. Davis was the Founder and Senior Pastor of Nations Ford Community Church in Charlotte, NC. He was well-regarded as a visionary, leadership coach, motivational speaker, friend, husband and father. He was a hero to many with a genuine love for God’s people.

A native of Cincinnati, OH, Dr. Davis graduated from Xavier University of Cincinnati with a degree in Business. He received his Master of Ministry and Doctor of Divinity from Carolina School of Theology. He was consecrated into the International Bishops Conference on February 22, 2014.

Dr. Davis served the body of Christ and advanced the Kingdom of God for more than three decades. In addition to establishing and growing the Nations Ford Community Church (including the Ballantyne satellite campus), Dr. Davis, along with his wife, Pastor Cynthia Davis, also founded the Galilean Baptist Church of Charlotte and the Alpha Community Church of Alpharetta, GA. Dr. Davis was the Founder of The Male Leadership Academy of Charlotte, The Nations Ford Christian Academy, Queen City Bible College, The Envision Life School of Leadership and Ministry, and The Southwest Community Development Corporation. Dr. Davis was President of Phillip Davis Ministries and a Certified Professional Coach from The Dream Releaser Coaching Institute. His radio broadcast, EnVision Life, has aired for nearly 30 years on WordNet Radio. Dr. Davis authored two books – The Vision Casting Congregation and Father Force: Changing the World One Life at A Time – and the soon-to-be-released The Untapped Power of a Man. Having served as Director of Church Planting at the North American Mission Board, Dr. Davis served on numerous boards locally and regionally, including the State of North Carolina Social Services Commission.

Dr. Davis poured himself into his congregation and the community, driven by a passion for others to “Think Big”. His motivational mantra to all was to “Occupy Your Destiny”. Committed to the next generation of leaders, he founded the You-LeadTM program to develop individuals 40 years of age and under into leaders of tomorrow. He lived by the Word of God especially Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Dr. Davis was predeceased by his father, George Anderson; brother, Robert; sisters, Elaine, Willa Mae and Brenda.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife and faithful partner in ministry, Pastor Cynthia L. Davis; sons, Pastor RJ and Bradley Davis, of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Ashley Davis of Cincinnati, OH; mother, Mrs. Mamie Davis of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Jayda, Nicollette, and Camille; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; the Nations Ford Community Church family.

Dr. Phillip and Pastor Cynthia Davis would have celebrated 42 years of marriage on September 1, 2015.

Bishop Davis:
I was thinking about you an went in to read your obituary and just wish you was here for the holidays! I plan to go to the New Years Eve service next week and I know it will be strange not hearing you present your sermon for the new year! I've gone to the NYE program every year since 2005. But, I know you will be there in Spirit and that gives me the strength to want to be there to hopefully hear RJ's message! Merry Christmas to you Bishop and you are so Greatly missed in this world and hearing you speak knowledge and common sense to your people! May you soar with Angels in Heaven cause I know GOD is using you still in Spirit! We All Love @ Miss YOU!
Greatest Pastor to Ever walk on Earth!!!! Rest in Heaven!!!

One of the greatest persons I have ever personally known...He believed in me when I did not believe in myself...he loved me when I did not love me...and forgave me when I couldn't forgive myself...my teacher, my Father and a better friend to me than I could ever be to him..God's gift and resource to His creation!

Shocked to read about the demise of my beloved pastor this morning. May your gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace. I had the honour of meeting Dr Davis in 1998 as a congregant at Nations Ford Baptist Church as it was known then. What a fine gentleman with a smile. Signore sia con te. Addio!

Cynthia I just learned of Phil's passing, in my church bulletin. I'm so sorry for your loss. It deeply saddens me to read this, but I know you and RJ are suffering more and your other children. God bless you all. I'll keep you in my prayers.

This man was one of,if not the, most inspirational men I've heard in my life. Thank you. I' m confident our maker has said, in my limited this world understanding "Job, well done!" God bless you and God bless your entire family!

Bishop Davis was very instrumental in my walk with Christ and he will forever be remembered for his passion and love for others . May God keep him in his bosom and protect Pastor Cynthia and their children as they endure these trying times. My heart and thoughts go out to you all in prayer. It will truly be an adjustment not to have him present when visiting Nations Ford. God bless you all!
