I’ve been at a loss for words since hearing this sad news.
I met Phyllis my freshman year at Myers Park High School. She was a senior and we drive all over Charlotte in her moms VW Bug!
She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. And while I hadn’t talked to her in several years I always knew we could pick up right where we left off any time. Love you Phyllis!!

The Perry Family,
I want to let you know that my heart goes out to you all at this time. I hope that the happy memories help you get through this extremely difficult time. I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with Phyllis in life- as she was a great friend, co worker, and motherly figure to me. She talked about you all every single day, and there was nothing more important in her life than her family. She loved you all so much, and that will never change. Phyllis was truly a joy to be around. She was hilarious, and one of the coolest, most down to earth people I’ve ever met. She also had the best taste in funky jewelry. She will be greatly missed, and I hope you all know how much she is loved. I’ll never forget her. Wishing you peace and healing.

I had the pleasure of meeting Phyllis a few years ago when her dad, Ashley, brought her to the Ratliff Family Reunion in Wadesboro. She was such a lovely girl. Her dad and my mother, Virginia Ratcliffe Helms, were first cousins. My sympathies go out to her wonderful family, and to her cousin, Mary Grace of Wadesboro, pictured below.
With much love and respect, Vann Helms, Lake Lure, N.C.

So so sad to see this. Phyllis was my best friend growing up. I practically lived at her Mom and Dad's as a kid. I did things saw things that I probably wld never have had the chance to. I went to all of Phyllis's dance recitals. We used to have shows in her little playhouse in the back yard. Phyllis was very serious about them too. She had costumes, sent out invitations, refreshments and a curtain for between scenes. I went to the beach w her and her parents for the first time. First time going to the South of the Border. We used to make icing and eat it by the bowl! We wld climb on the roof and hang out just talking and singing. I cld go on and on. U were the best of friends Phyllis and thanks for always sharing. U had the sweetest soul and u will be missed....Love you, Jan R Foster

I was so saddened to read of Phyllis' passing ... gone far too soon and far too young. We attended Webber University at the same time - she indeed lit up a room when she entered, was kind beyond measure and a beautiful person, inside and out. She will live on in the memories, stories and photos of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her entire family is in our hearts, and thoughts, and prayers. <3
