

He died at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina after sustaining a head injury from falling in his home. Jerry was born October 6th, 1932 to Ralph and Olla (Rhyne) Hoffman in Dallas, North Carolina, the 2nd of three children.
Jerry is survived by his son Eric (Dawne) Hoffman; daughter Zoe Hoffman; grandchildren, Kristy Hoffman and Robby Hoffman; 3 great-grandchildren; nephews Dale (Mary) Whisenant and Barry Whisenant; niece Devron Hoffman. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alfred and Aerial Hoffman; and wife Joan (Yount) Hoffman.
Jerry graduated from Dallas High School in 1950. He attended Lenoir Rhyne University in 1950-51 where he played football and met the love of his life, Joan. The two moved to Charlotte, where he spent over 60 years as a custom cabinet builder and woodworker at Wade Manufacturing, Good Earth Woodworking, and in his workshop at home. He was drafted into the Army in 1956, served 2 years and achieved the rank of Private First Class (E-3).
He enjoyed gardening, visiting flea markets, and was an active member of his church. He had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, 8200 McClure Circle, Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11am. Visitation will begin prior to the funeral at 10am. The burial will be at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28208, following the funeral. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends.
