He was born on November 20, 1952 in Worcester, MA, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Sherman. He grew up and attended school there, along with his older sister, Merridith.
Randy attended The University of Miami where he obtained a degree in Business Administration. Randy was a top salesman when he worked for Dunn and Bradstreet and received many awards for his service. Randy was active in the local Charlotte community, volunteering as a mentor for homeless young men, raising money for Alzheimer's research, and serving as an officer in the Harley Owners Group. He was also a member of the Freemasons fraternal organization. His hobbies included Amature Radio broadcasting, raising and breeding finches, and riding his bicycle. He had a need for speed and a great sense of adventure. He owned and collected Harley Davidsons and Corvettes. Randy also loved the outdoors. He was fond of camping, gardening, and walking and biking the Greenway. Whenever the weather was nice, you could find him out on his Harley or cruising in the Corvette with the top down.
In addition to pursuing his passions, Randy was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Marissa Sherman Deziel (Dr. Jackson Deziel) and grandson Luc Deziel. He is also survived by his ex-wife Barbara Sherman, his sister Merridith Glazer (Dr. Howard Glazer) and his nephews, Dr. Chad Glazer (Orlee) and Seth Glazer, and his great-nieces, Lana and Liza Glazer. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Joseph and Bernice Ritz Sherman.
A private memorial service for his family will be held Saturday, March 23rd at 2pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel in Pineville, NC. Contributions in memory of Randy may be made to the BrightFocus Foundation for Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
Randy was bold, passionate, and always lived his life to the fullest. He will truly be missed.
