Rebecca Sills Blackmon

Becky Sills Blackmon, age 72, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Charlotte, NC. Born April 25, 1951 in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Lillian (Jones) Sills.

Becky attended West Mecklenburg High School and later pursued higher education at Appalachian State University. She was a member of Chadwick Methodist Church and attended Pineville United Methodist Church.

Becky, also known as Rebecca Lynn Blackmon, was a dedicated teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, having taught at Albemarle Road Jr. High and Butler High School.

Becky was a kind and giving person with a big heart. She was known for her organizing skills and was always the one to plan the Sills family Christmas party and wedding showers. She had a loving and generous heart, always willing to help others. Becky was dedicated volunteer and could always be counted on when someone needed support.

Becky is survived by her brother, Ronald Sills (Suzanne); sisters, Patricia Godbey and Sharon Gaskins (Charles). She is also survived by her nephews, David Gaskins (Ashley), Marty Ritch (Jackie), Patrick Sills (Mary), Gary Gaskins (Heather) and Randy Gaskins (Shannon) as well as her great-nephews, Michael Ritch, Finnian Sills, Grant Gaskins and Luke Gaskins; and her great-nieces, Lillie Gaskins, Caroline Sills and Mary Ellen Sills.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillian Sills.

Memorial Services for Becky will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pineville United Methodist Church, 110 S Polk St, Pineville, NC 28134.
