Richard, “Dick”, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the age of 77 at Presbyterian Hospital Hospice Unit in Charlotte, NC, after a brief but arduous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was, at home that day, in the company of his loving family, a wonderful caring hospice nurse and a comforting priest from St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Dick was born June 2nd 1947 in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Richard J. Brizzi and brother of the late Annette (Brizzi) Colasanti. He is survived by his mother Lena Luccitti Brizzi and brother Dennis Brizzi.
The joy of Dick’s life was his family, his wife Cynthia (Praino) Brizzi of 43+ years, married in 1981 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Mattydale, NY. Dick was a loving and devoted father to Jillian Faith (Jonathan) Olsen, Caitlin Hope Cain, Nicholas (Jordan Berton) Brizzi with the absolute joy of his life being his five grandchildren…Harry & Annabel Olsen, Haley & Jack Cain and Michael Brizzi. He cherished and was so very grateful all his wonderful friends, his extended family and his many nieces and nephews.
Richard graduated from North High School in Syracuse, NY in 1964 and then went on to further his education at Niagara University where he earned his degree in Economics and graduated in 1968 after which he joined the National Guard. Dick spent his career in banking. After graduation he started to work for the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) as a National Bank Examiner, then after 34 years, retiring at 55, took a job with Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank as a manager in Commercial Credit Risk Review for 10 years. Finally, then working for Regions Bank, those remaining 12 years of his life. He loved all his jobs and the people he met and made many lifelong friends, always hoping he made a difference.
Dick was an avid golfer of 50+ years and a member for 35 years at Cedarwood Country Club after moving to Charlotte NC. He truly enjoyed regional golf trips with longtime friends from Banking and the Club. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Community Culinary School of Charlotte for many years.
Dick touched the lives of so many with his work ethic, honesty, unconditional love and the pleasure he took in the simplest joys of life. Words cannot express how much he will be missed by those that loved, cared and appreciated him so deeply.
