Rita was born in Raleigh, NC on January 1, 1943, to the late Ralph and Vivian Robertson. As a child, she moved to Charlotte and attended Charlotte Mecklenburg schools, graduating from Myers Park High School. After starting her own family, Rita went to work as a bank teller at NCNB. She moved up to a position as a loan officer (at what was NationsBank by that time) and then, after obtaining a degree in computer programming, she became an Assistant Vice President within the (now) Bank of America ATM programming department. Overall, her tenure spanned 35 years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, David Lawson of Charlotte NC and two children, Renee Lawson (Dannie Walls) and Taylor Lawson (Colleen Crimmins).
