

Dr. Robert Frank Anderson departed this life on Thursday morning, April 06, 2017. He was the husband of Tiwana Anderson. They shared seven wonderful years of marriage together, along with their 4-legged son (dog), Giuseppe Anderson.
Robert was born in Jefferson Iowa on July 30th. Robert graduated from Ames High School and Iowa State University. He shortly moved to Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with his Ph.D. in Mathematics. He was an Emeritus Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), where he taught for 30 years; he assisted in the creation of the Actuarial program at UNCC. The Anderson Scholarship was established in his honor after he retired in 2013.
Robert enjoyed international traveling with his wife and hiking in the England countryside. He was a born genius in math, probability, and statistics functions and calculations. In addition, Robert loved nature, history, and meeting people.
Robert is preceded in death by his father Russell Kenneth Anderson; mother Pauline Lenore Anderson; father-in-law Purvis Young Sr.; mother-in-law Dorothy Strickland; brother-in-law Purvis Young Jr. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Tiwana Anderson; his lovely daughter, Robin Anderson (David); grandson James Robert Alexander; siblings Ken Anderson (Anne), Karen Schempp (Dave), and Paula Morrical (Dan); god mother-in-law Patricia Young (Robert); aunt Caroleen Turner, Ms. Georgia Marsh; sister-in-laws Vanessa Benjamin (Reuben), Tammy Johnson, Laura Young (Purvis Jr.), Brenda Walls (Kevin), Phyllis Evans (Howard); brother-in-laws Jerry Young and Aron Douglas; cousins Jane Johnson (Dennis), Jean McCorkle, Raymond Young, Alice Mangum, Glenda Carithers; nurse and friend Derryel “DeeJay” Johnson, close friends Janet Willis, Theresa Bowman, Aekta Chawla, hiking buddies Joe and Joan Quinn, Bill Davy, and Isaac and Natasha, friends Larry Fitzpatrick (Nancy) and Jerry (Melanie), Neena Nowell, Kenneth McQueen, John Bovastro, and the Young family members, nieces Deb, English, Breauna, Tameka, Stephanie, Gigi, his nephews Nathan, Brandon, Jeff, Mark, Jonathan, Ben, Bryce and Martin; including many dear friends from UNC-Charlotte Waafe Shaban, Michael & Fiona Grabchack, Tomas Lucas (Wife), Jeremy Dunbar, Peiqin, Josse, Sherry, and others.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 15, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte NC 28212 from 10:00 – 10:45am. A tribute service will be at 11:00am in the Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, and private entombment will follow the tribute service.
