Born June 29, 1945 in Pineville, he was a son of the late G. Homer Davis and Lillian F. Bridges Davis. Following graduation at South Mecklenburg High School, Bob served his country honorably as part of the U.S. Army in Vietnam (1966-1968).
Bob was a passionate tinkerer. He especially enjoyed tinkering on cars, vintage and more recent models. As a mechanic, he used his gift to support UPS, Yellow Freight, and Rea Brothers (of Charlotte, NC) as well as his church membership throughout his life.
Being outdoors brought Bob joy, whether fishing, camping, or working with trees in the woods. You could find him on his back porch often, usually with one of his family members or pets by his side.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Jones Davis, two children, Shannon Davis (Frank Hirtz) of Centreville, VA and Britt Davis (Samuelle) of Rock Hill, SC, and three beloved grandchildren Alexandra Hirtz, Miles Hirtz, and Brielle Davis, as well as his brother Allen (Jackie) Davis of Indian Land, SC.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Norman Davis and Kenneth Davis.
A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm in Flint Hill Baptist Church, 1214 Flint Hill St, Fort Mill, SC followed by internment with military honors at the Flint Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm at the church.
For those wishing to send memorial gifts, please consider donating to the Flint Hill Baptist Church Pavilion Fund or donating to a local food pantry and/or donating blood to the local Red Cross in his name.
