Robert Clyde Eidson, born 3/27/1930, had a wonderful life and went to be with Jesus on 6/21/2018. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Stanley Turner of 62 years, two daughters, Sandy and Laura, as well as his parents, Robert Lee and Minnie Horton Eidson. He is survived by his only sibling, Betty Sue, two daughters, Patricia Eidson and Kim Landon, and his granddaughter Nicole Griffin and her husband Joel Griffin. He had two great grandchildren, Robert and Rebecca Griffin , all of Georgia. He served in the US Army and US Air Force from 1948 - 1960. He worked as a Charlotte Police officer for 34 years. During that time he started the helicopter unit and retired with the rank of Assistant Chief. He was a member of the Sharon Civitan Club for over 30 years. He also was a member at the YMCA in Charlotte for over 40 years. He was a founding member of the Westside Church of Christ, which later became Mountain Island, for over 50 years where he served as deacon. He enjoyed serving the Lord in so many ways including finance to building projects. He was always there if needed as friend and carpenter. After his retirement he enjoyed lots of golf, woodworking and quail hunting. He will be missed greatly by those that loved him most.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Dr. Charlotte, NC 28208. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Mt. Island Church of Christ with burial to follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
