.Mr. Freeland, age 73 of Charlotte passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Novant Health Center-Matthews. He was born in Charlotte on June 13, 1940, son of the late Ernest Pinkney and Julia Anna Ross Freeland, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ernest. He was a graduate of N. C. State with a BS Degree in engineering. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday February 16, 2014 conducted by Chaplain Larry Watts at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Rd. Charlotte, NC 28212 the family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Freeland is survived by his life partner Judith Krahmer, brother, Joseph Freeland and wife Elaine of Locust Grove, VA, sister, Judith Hardesty of Southport, NC, son, Robert Freeland, II of Riverview, FL, daughter, Christy Shivel and husband Fred of Brandon, FL, and grandsons, Liam and Andrew Freeland and Durham and Grayson Shivel.
