Robert Albert Helms

Robert was a Veteran of WWII, and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Motor Vehicles Analyst. He will always be remembered as being a hard worker, committed to his family, and being an honest and giving person with a servant’s heart. He was a member of Pineville United Methodist Church, and volunteered at the community center in Pineville serving hot lunches. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and square dancing.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Hazel Helms; son David Albert Helms. He is survived by his son Jerry (Sylvia) Helms of Charlotte, NC, son Mike (Lisa) Helms of Scottsdale, AR; Nieces Kay Roberts (Chuck) of Charlotte, NC, Elizabeth Corallo of VA, and Linda Murphy of Hendersonville, NC; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 12:30 to 2:00pm. Service will follow beginning at 2:00pm. Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte in his name.
